In the third novella installment of R. Garth's Tales From Blue Springs,  Animal Man reintroduces us to characters who feed upon a bounty of carnal carnage in both the physical and spiritual forms. Of these characters, the most complex is his embodiment of himself—a somewhat displaced human attempting to adapt to the ethereal community of Blue Springs. Garth's writing echoes of the classics, putting forth a time and place where the line between reality and nature, man and beast, love and lust become blurred. He shows us what could, and possibly has happened beyond the property lines and river sloughs of the rural South. Animal Man should be considered the most humanistic of the Blue Springs series. It shows that to be truly human we must embrace our inner animal - our true inner selves.
