With a life that has spanned the cotton fields of Alabama, the sunsets of St Kilda, Melbourne, to taxi-driving in New York, Richard has always been a writer. The past 40 years have inspired an exhaustive creative catalogue of songs, poetry, short stories plus musicals, literature and screenplays.

With a Masters degree in Education and B.A.’s in English and History, Richard has been an English and Mythology teacher for over 20 years. Winner of the William Butler Yeats Award, His published works include various short stories, poetry, and anthologies, highlighted as a contributing writer for Whatever Remembers Us: An Anthology of Alabama Poetry, by Dr. Sue Brannan Walker, Poet Laureate of Alabama, and J. William Chambers. 

In 2007 , Richard published the first novella from his southern gothic romance series Tales from Blue Springs with The Hatchet WomanThe Hook Man, Animal Man and The Freak  completed the compilation in 2010 along with a screenplay adaptation.

In 2013, the studio recording of Richard's rock opera Mephistopheles was completed. His musical vision of the Faust tale re-imagined this classic German legend: instead of Faust selling his soul to the Devil for money and power, this time he is sacrificing it for Love!  Richard has just completed his latest musical, King Arthur - The Magic of Merlin and is currently working on his next musical project  - a musical adaptation of The Odyssey.

Today R. is a music teacher for children with autism and lives with his wife in Melbourne, Australia.
